Irish Examiner (June 01, 2009) DUBLIN company i-conX, one of the world’s fastest-growing dedicated interconnect specialists, is expanding rapidly overseas.
It has just secured a €2.3 million contract with major GSM mobile telecoms operator, Tele2 Russia.
That contract, secured during a recent trade mission, has pushed the worth of overseas contracts secured since November 2008 to almost €5m.
i-conX vice president of sales and marketing Gavin Stewart said the company was very pleased with its success and was optimistic that further orders will be secured as the group continues to promote the benefits of its technology to the big players in the high-tech sector.
The company is "extremely proud to have secured this prestigious contract with Tele2 Russia" representing as it does a significant addition to our customer base, he said.
"There are obvious parallels with i-conX and a carrier like Tele2. Its Russian operation has a young and dynamic team and has demonstrated spectacular subscriber growth in recent years.
"As a fast growing business, we recognise and admire this quality."
The company provides an expert billing services specialising in managing wholesale transactions between carriers.
This is a process referred to as interconnect accounting, and the Dublin firm has developed the ability to provide this highly specialised service to the global telecom’s sector.
During another trade mission to the UAE in November 2008, the group secured a €1.3m deal with Palestinian telco Paltel and Iraqi operator Newroz.
The technology company has also just announced an open-ended contract with Belgium’s BASE Telecom, anticipated to generate e1m over the next three years.
